BIG END, MAINS AND CYLINDER HEAD TORQUE SETTINGS FOR 2.4 LITRE JEEP CHEROKEE 2003 MODEL
- Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown. Using the 4 step torque turn method, tighten according to the following values:
- Step 1: All to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
- Step 2: All to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.)
- Step 3: All to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.)
Step 4: Turn an additional 1/4 turn
- Step 5: Install and tighten bolts (1-10) in sequence shown, to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) .
- Tighten bolts (1-10) again to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) PLUS 1/4 turn in sequence shown.
- Install main bearing bedplate to engine block bolts (11-20), and torque each bolt to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) in sequence shown.
Connecting Rod Cap Bolts 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) + 1/4 turn

1st sequence: 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
2nd sequence: 60 Nm (43 ft lb)
Final sequence: plus 1/2 turn (180°)

2nd sequence: 60 Nm (43 ft lb)
