They go into protect for several reasons. Unless you are a trained technician you should not try to repair it yourself. It may have a blown channel. Disconnect the speakers and try turning it on again. If it still goes into protect you have a serious problem. If it does not go into protect, you may just have a bad speaker, or have the impedance too low for that amp. The smartest thing to do would be to take it to a repair center and have them test it to find out if the problem is in the amp or in the wiring/speakers.

I had a few sony amps, and they don't do well as far as i am concerned. I have experienced them doing the same thing for no apparent reason. One minute they are working fine and the next, they are done. What is happening is that the mosfets are burning out inside the amp which causes them to go into protect mode. Make sure you go by the specs on that specific amp. Usually most amps don't go under 2 ohms stereo and 4 ohms mono. A lot of people start to experiment and notice if they hook-up a certain way, they produce a lot more bass. Sometimes that few minutes of great bass burns out a mosfet or two which kills the amp.

It sounds like you have a bad ground make sure its on the froame or body and make sure any rust or paint is sanded or scraped off

Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier Sub-woofer not working

10 inch subs need help

I have 10 inch subs in my car i don't know why but they wont really hit like if you turn the amp all the way up and stuff it vibrates a little bit just not like real subs should like it dont bounce the part its supposed to what is the problem i know the amp is very strong but why would it not still make them bounce????

It sounds like the wiring either to the amp or to the subs is put together wrong. This can be because you have them setup in stereo but have the sub on bridge mode or vica versa. This can also be from how you ran the audio input wither from speakers or rca..either wired wrong or the switch for the two options is wrong. Also make sure your gain is turned up. Sound also depends on what kind of box it is in. It HAS to be in a box.

Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier Installation

Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier

How do i intall my amp?

I have a xplode 600w amp how do i install it to my speakers and cd player step by step

First you need to run a power cable for the battery to where ever you are going to place the amp DO NOT hook the cable to the battery until the very last just wire it to the amp for now.next you will want to ground your amp hook the ground wire to the amp and the other end to a solid piece of metal in the car this is very important if you don't get good metal on metal contact you'll blow a fuse. If you can hide it well strip back a bit of carpeting and use sand paper to remove all paint from the metal and drill a hole for a screw. once that is finished you will need to run a remote wire from the amp to the car stereo usually these are the blue wire on the harness in the dash. once that is hooked up run the rca cables (reds and whites) plug in to amp and then in to back of cd player. once this is all hooked up and fully secure hook the power cable to the battery make good contact and if everything is grounded right you should get the lights on in the amp. Next step hook up the speakers run speaker wire from the amp to your speakers make sure negative goes to negative and positive to positive .

I have 1000 watt sony XPLOD amp and i just installed it today. with new monster cable&ground. the green light turns on& thumping goes for a little. i try to raise up just a little bit& after 2 thumps my amp light turns red.. whats happening??

I think if I'm correct you are running to many speakers and have your ohm load to low for the amp causing it to go into protection. 1 single voice coil speaker equals 4 ohms for every speaker you have divide 4 ohms by number of speakers (ie. 2 single voice coil speakers equals 2 ohms or 1 dual voice coil speaker equals 2 ohms) this is for parallel wiring. For series wiring do the opposite if you have 2 speakers you are running an ohm load of 8 ohms the same for a dual voice coil ran in series. Series is positive on the amp to positive on hook up A negative of hook up A to positive of hook up B negative of hook up B to negative on the amp.

OR

It isn't getting enough power and its tripping the internal switch on the amp and putting it in safe mode. either your wire isn't a high enough gauge. you might need a capacitor or you need bigger wire.

Sony Xplod Car Audio Amplifier sound cuts off then power led blinks

Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier

My sounds cuts off and then my green power light

My sounds cuts off and then my green power light starts to blink

This sounds like you are having a problem with the ground wire. When the amp is not properly grounding the amp will loose power the light will flicker and your speakers will stop working.

Make sure the ground wire for the amp (the black wire) is grounded correctly. The end of the wire or connector should be firmly grounded under a nut for example.

Crack the windows and drop the sony system and get your self a nice mono block class d amp 1000 rms should be loud enough btw bild your stereo based on rms power not max power rms is the true power you got so like 2 500 watt rms 12s on a 1000 watt rms amp or just a 1000 watt woofer it will be jsut as loud as the 2 12s

Its in the amp and sub itself, what kind are you running, facing the sub forward helps amplify the sound forward and vice verse  id seal the boot up with sound deadener or poly-fill  the less movement in the car the higher the chance the bass can travel, if its the thump you want make sure you have the lpf (low pass filter) switched on the amp, raise the gain and if you can do it on your amp bridge the wires, more info would be great on what your running. if you have the slat feature on head unit turn that up, bass frequency on head unit and amp should be between 55 to 80 up to 110 on both amp and sub.

1985 Honda civic radio speaker sound is low

Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier

I have a 1985 Honda Civic which I installed a Sony CDX-GT260 Car Stereo 50Wx4. I hooked up 2 Kenwood speakers sitting in oval boxes on the parcel tray above back seat in addition to the 2 in front doors. Sound is OK but I wish it was a but "fuller" with a richer base. Someone said fit an amplifier under the seat. Will this help and / or other guidance please.

First of all please check if the speakers are connected in phase. That is if all the positive and negative terminals are connected OK. Simple way to check is to turn the fader control first to the rear and then while playing some music with heavy beat ( dance music ) turn the balance to one side. Listen and see if you are getting good bass. Then turn the balance and bring it to the middle ( 0 ), when you do that if the bass is becoming flat-- one of your back speakers are out of phase and canceling bass. If thery are in phase the bass should become full and rich. Do the same by turning the fader to the front and try swinging the balance. If all is Ok , yes you will need an Amplifier to satisfy you. Make sure you buy something that can match the power of the speakers you have installed in the car.

The out of phase syndrome is a very common problem.
