Unless you are a trained technician you should not try to repair it yourself. It may have a blown channel. Disconnect the speakers and try turning it on again. If it still goes into protect you have a serious problem. If it does not go into protect, you may just have a bad speaker, or have the impedance too low for that amp. Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier Quick question about the power I have the 12volt live wire connected to the car battery, and a remote wire connected to the aux power supply..... The amp works and everything is fine. My question is, when the car is off, the power light (green) is still on. IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE???...the reason why I ask is because, me being a moron, spliced the live 12v wire from the battery to both terminals (REM & 12v), of course the amp worked fine, but overnight it completely drained the battery ( had to get a new battery), I don't want the same thing to happen again. The remote turn on terminal on the amp needs to be connected to a switched power source. Typically, it's the remote turn-on/power antenna wire on the head unit. If your head unit doesn't have such a control wire, connect the remote turn-on terminal to a wire that's controlled by the ignition switch.  It's VERY important to fuse all of the...

Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier Amp wont kick on I have the power to + and grounded, i don't have remote tho do i need that, and i only have one fuse on the actual amp there's 2 slots for fuses tho but my cousin said i only need on and that's the one on the side closet to power and ground. You have to install the remote wire or it will not work. I'd put in the other fuse as well just in case you have the fuse in the wrong slot or it needs both fuses. OR The amp will not turn on until it receives 12v via the remote turn on. Also, if your amp has two fuse slots, I would make sure they were both filled with the appropriate fuses.

SUB WOOFER NOT WORKING LIKE ORIGINAL Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier 10 inch subs need help I have 10 inch subs in my car i don't know why but they wont really hit like if you turn the amp all the way up and stuff it vibrates a little bit just not like real subs should like it dont bounce the part its supposed to what is the problem i know the amp is very strong but why would it not still make them bounce???? It sounds like the wiring either to the amp or to the subs is put together wrong. This can be because you have them setup in stereo but have the sub on bridge mode or vica versa. This can also be from how you ran the audio input wither from speakers or rca..either wired wrong or the switch for the two options is wrong. Also make sure your gain is turned up. Sound also depends on what kind of box it is in. It HAS to be in a box.

Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier How do i intall my amp? I have a xplode 600w amp how do i install it to my speakers and cd player step by step First you need to run a power cable for the battery to where ever you are going to place the amp DO NOT hook the cable to the battery until the very last just wire it to the amp for now.next you will want to ground your amp hook the ground wire to the amp and the other end to a solid piece of metal in the car this is very important if you don't get good metal on metal contact you'll blow a fuse. If you can hide it well strip back a bit of carpeting and use sand paper to remove all paint from the metal and drill a hole for a screw. once that is finished you will need to run a remote wire from the amp to the car stereo usually these are the blue wire on the harness in the dash. once that is hooked up run the rca cables (reds and whites) plug in to amp and then in to back of cd player. once this is all hooked up...

Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier Sony Xplod-XM-554ZR-- - - Resistor on circuit board HELP!!! Well my brothers amp on his car just quit working. Me being an EE student i go ahead and open up to see whats inside. Unscrew everything and turn the board over to find a "open" surface mount resistor. I would like to find out what the value is for this "R466" (around in the middle of the board). This resistor burnt up, so basically it is unidentifiable. Possible values but not sure could be 2R1 which is 2.1 Ohms or, could be 221 which equals 220 Ohms. Can anyone please tell me the value or numbers on the top of this resistor, i would greatly appreaciate it. AGAIN the resistor is R466 around the middle of the board. R466 is chip resistor 220 Ohms 1/8 watt connecting between Emitter pins of Q408 and Q409. Its part number is ... R466 "1-216-182-00" RES-CHIP 220 5% 1/8W Available in Part Store.

For series wiring do the opposite if you have 2 speakers you are running an ohm load of 8 ohms the same for a dual voice coil ran in series. Problem with Sony Xplod XM-554ZR Car Audio Amplifier Free amp problems I was given an sony xplod 500watt car amp but the red light is on for the out put. my question is is it worth it to repair it or just toss it. As you are probably aware the red light would be the circuit protection. If you are confident with electronics it could be worth repairing yourself as the component parts are reletively cheap but that depends on how you feel about fault finding and soldering or do you know someone who you could ask to take a look and possibly do the work for you. It might be worth getting a quote before tossing it in the bin though.
